I think that manipulating fiber in traditional ways brings a sense of history and human touch to cloth. Taking that cloth and further transforming it, in a non-traditional way, gives rise to the artist's voice in creating works that reflect a modern aesthetic. My textile work is an exploration of texture, line and pattern. It is my way of translating an accumulation of sensorial experiences into a single visual representation. Each mark and technique is a deliberate action meant to help convey a bit of information to the viewer. Each material used as a way to ground the work in historical practices. The result is, hopefully, a piece that invites the viewer to see the world from a different perspective.
