2023 STITCH PROJECT
There are many ways to journal and there are many reasons to journal. Karen Turner, another UK textile artist, has a brilliant daily practice that includes a stitch journal. The idea of working on a project for an entire year has been growing in my head for a while. This year I took up the challenge and am creating my own surface design scroll. It is an approximate 9 inch by 12 foot scroll, divided into 365 varied shaped and sized sections, that contain stitch, haberdashery from travels, mixed media paintings, personal mementos, words and various textile samples. It has become a creative practice that is both skill building and deeply explorative. I love how it grows every day
